The Iditarod Expedition Trek

Finger Lake Checkpoint - Fred Hirschmann PhotoThis Trek follows the entire Iditarod Race Trail 1,049 miles by ski plane, beginning in Anchorage, the Saturday morning of the Race start and includes 12 days and 12 nights, finishing in Nome.

During the Trek, guests will keep pace with the Race leaders and will have the opportunity to visit multiple Checkpoints each day. This is the ultimate tour for the Iditarod enthusiast or for the adventurer seeking a unique expedition across regions of Alaska few will ever visit.

Included are the itinerary and highlights of the Start Trek and the Winners Trek plus five extra days between visiting Checkpoints between Rainy Pass and White Mountain. While other Sky Treks are private parties, Iditarod Treks are mixed groups yet high guide to guest ratios apply. Double-occupancy accommodations will be at Wasilla, Trapper Creek, McGrath, Unalakleet and Nome.

Day 2: Official Start in Wasilla, be an official Race Volunteer at trailside, race kennel tour
Day 3: Aerial tour of Mt. McKinley, visit Skwentna, Finger Lake and Rainey Pass Checkpoints
Day 4: Introduction to dog mushing, mushing a team along a groomed trail course, guided snowmobile trip
Day 5: Fly between Talkeetna and McGrath, landing at Checkpoints en-route
Day 6: Fly from McGrath onward to the halfway Checkpoints
Day 7: Fly from McGrath to Unalakleet, landing at Checkpoints en-route
Day 8: Fly from Unalakleet to Yukon River Checkpoints
Day 9: Fly from Unalakleet to Nome, landing at Norton Sound Checkpoints en-route
Day 10: Fly from Nome to White Mountain and Norton Sound Checkpoints
Day 11: Watch winner and finalists mush into Nome, visit Safety Checkpoint by snowmobile or ski plane.

Day 13: Return to Anchorage by Alaska Airlines jet (airfare not included)

12 days/12 nights beginning in Anchorage and ending in Nome. Available beginning the first Saturday each March $10,250.00 per person
